Keeping it real

Our household is adjusting to Jon's new venture: school. It's not a super easy transition, in fact, it's hard for Jon to not stress out and it's hard for me to not stress out because Jon's stressed out.
So we find ourselves in a GREAT place to practice our faith. We are trying to keep giving our anxieties and fears to God daily, hourly, even by the minute.

In other random news for our family:

-Jarrah appears to have insomnia and has been up pacing at night. It keeps me awake and I'm less than kind to her when I get her to tell her to "put it!".

-Jarrah also is allergic to grass so she has all these bare patches on her legs where she's licked the fur off. She sort of looks like a baboon.

-Emma has a cold. It's always weird to me when I (and now Emma) has a cold in the summer. I have steered clear of getting hers so far but considering all the snot she's rubbed on me just today; it will be a miracle if I don't wake up with the sniffles.

-Jon looks good in his green scrubs.

-I am knee high in taxes at work.

-I LOVE the heat. July has not disappointed and I can welcome at least another month of these temps I hope.

-I'm tired to watching Clifford.

-I'm tired of second-guessing myself and comparing myself to others.

-I want VERY much to be the person that God made me to be (which includes accepting that it is not like anyone else). I want to accept that there is no "mold" and no "perfect way" for most things including raising a child.

-I would love to own all the scriptures I've been reading.

-I know that God is faithful to help me with all of these things as I surrender to Him and allow Him to change me.

Butterfly and a popsicle

Emma loves the butterfly wings she got for her birthday and likes to "fly" around the house with Jarrah on her leash.

It proved to be a little bit cold.

Make that A LOT cold!

Nursery Rhymes

I was reading "Mother Goose" nursery rhymes to Emma and I ran across a couple that seemed... "off".

"Lady-bird, Lady-bird,
Fly away home,
Your house is on fire,
Your children will burn."

Hmmm, sounds like a bedtime story to me!

Here's another favorite of impressionable children everywhere:

"Snail, Snail,
Come out of your hole,
Or else I'll beat you black as a coal,
Snail, Snail,
Put out your head,
Or else I'll beat you till you're dead."

Yep! Those are rhymes I hope Emma memorizes right away and NEVER forgets!

Take me to the zoo

Wednesday mom, Jess, Meg, Sy, Jon, Emma and I went to the Akron zoo. It was a toasty 92 degrees but none of us minded. It's a smaller zoo so we were able to see all we wanted in about 3 hours and get the kids home for naps.

We've been having great family time this whole week while Jon is off work. Tomorrow is date day for Jon and I. We are doing a little shopping and then lunch and a movie! (Despicable Me starting showing tomorrow- Yay!)

Winds of change

Change is coming to the Vore household.
Today is Jon's last day at Oxyrase.
He has next week off to do some fun family things.
July 12th he starts his one-year internship!

Needless to say, transition is happening all around us. While I feel this is a good thing for our family, I still have been a bit uneasy lately.

I know the Lord will provide for us in every way and today I was reminded of that in a neat way.

I was sitting at my desk and saw something outside the window that caught my eye.
I looked over and saw a bird hovering right outside the window. I thought it was going to peck at the window but instead, it just alit on the rose bush and sat very still for awhile. It was neat to see it up close.
It was very calming and I thought "this is the best part of my day"!
Then the bird flew away... and I realized what type of bird it was.

A sparrow.


"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."

Thank you Lord for sending your calming creature to reassure me of Your faithfulness and care.

Emma's 2nd birthday

Emma had a GREAT birthday! Our family was here and we enjoyed celebrating with everyone. Dora has officially invaded our house:)

Going buggy

I found a ladybug costume at a garage sale and Emma wanted to try it on.

She is a fan and wants to wear it all the time.

She was looking outside at her (loolaba) natural habitat

And of course... she did the "dance of the loolaba"

And everyone knows that loolabas love horse rides!
