Goodbye Partridge Way

God works in ways we don't expect. It's not always what we wanted, but it's always better than our own ways.

We have been house hunting for about 4 or 5 months now and haven't had peace about anything we've looked at. There are currently 2 houses that we are following thru on but don't expect to get. Not that we are being negative, just realistic, and we are ok with that. So we thought we would just be here at Partridge Way for several more months until we find something we feel good about... until Friday that is.

A friend let me know that our co-worker is renting out his condo and wants a short term renter. He doesn't mind the dog at all, it's every bit as nice as where we are now, almost exactly the same size and a few hundred (that's right HUNDRED) dollars LESS per month! That will go far to help us save for our future (house, school, whatever...)

I see it as a door gaping wiiiidddeee open! So we feel peace about this and are in the process of making arrangements to move mid Oct. We will still be free and flexible to move into a house if that becomes an option.

It's funny that I'm excited to move, maybe just ready for a change but I'd like to think it's the Lord making my desires more like His. He's faithful like that!

My favorite things

My favorite things are NOT the colds the whole family has, the fact that the house we've been waiting on is not looking like it will work out, the fact Jon's boss might be making changes that are bad for us, or that the carpet, no matter how many times I clean it, continues to make our white socks brown...

My favorite things are the way Emma walks, (new walking babies are the most adorable things!), that God blessed Jon with free left-handed golf clubs from a sweet friend at my work, and that God knows our future. The last one there takes the cake. I am practicing trusting God. I am reminding myself that He hasn't forgotten that we want to move and He isn't surprised about the info that Jon's boss sprang on Jon. I am choosing to know deep and for real that God cares. God knows. God doesn't forget. And God has a plan. It's a kingdom plan, so it often doesn't look like what I want it to, but it is the best plan for God's design.

I am going to make myself trust God as we proceed with looking at the two houses we are interested in. I am choosing to trust that God will open or close those doors of opportunity and that luck has nothing to do with it. I know that God is answering our prayers for wisdom as we house hunt and will continue to help us see what to do about Jon's job. I am always thankful for prayers from others for these things as well. I trust that God wont' forget and He won't withhold His wisdom, but in my humanness I misinterpret and I pray not only that God shows us what to do, but that it is so obvious that we get shoved in the right direction!

A second helping of patience please!

Jon and I have been interested in a house in here Ashland since June. It has been going thru the foreclosure process and we thought it was ready to be listed with a realtor this week. I got word today that there has been a delay in the "redemption process" (whatever that is) so everything is pushed back by at least 2 weeks or so. There is a special offer for properties owned by this particular bank that they would pay closing costs. But the offer expires Oct 31. The best estimate for when the house will be listed through the realtor (when we can actually make an offer) is the first or second week of October. That doesn't give us or the owner (the bank) much time for the "offer and acceptance" process.
So, I need an extra portion of patience! I know God cares about us and that He has a plan for our lives that includes where we live. So as a friend of mine says I need to just "put it" and wait on God. My excitement and impatience need to be toned down for the next few weeks and I will let this go so I can be free from anxiety about this. But, here's still hoping that this can work out:)

Look mom, no hands!

Emma has officially become a "walker"!!! She still crawls if she wants to get somewhere fast (and boy is she ever fast!) but she's up and walking a lot of the time now. It's fun to see her achieving milestones and gaining independence. Now if we could only get her to sleep through the night!

Fall is officially here... I heard the NFL theme song!

My husband loves NFL. So Sunday and Monday and Thursday, given the chance, he'll watch football. And today, after we got home from church, he watched the Browns lose and I heard that NFL theme song and knew that fall had arrived.

OSU vs. Navy Game

Jon and I got to go to the OSU game today! What a good time. Talk about die-hard fans. I doubt I've ever seen so much red in one place! OSU almost gave away the game in the 4th quarter but in the last 3 minutes ran an interception for 80 yards and won the game. We enjoyed the band and junk food too.

The Park

We went to the park and played on the slides and then walked over to watch Jon's dad play baseball. He's on an over 50 team called the "huffers and puffers".
